Elon Musk Becomes the World's First Trillionaire

📅 June 13, 2026 🏷️ Business
Elon Musk is known for surprising the world, and he has done it once again. Two decades ago, after selling his first company PayPal, Musk invested all his money into two sectors that most people thought would fail - electric cars and space exploration.

Musk first shocked the world in 2002 when he founded SpaceX. At that time, many considered it a joke. In 2004, he invested in Tesla. In 2008, during the global financial crisis, Musk faced huge setbacks. SpaceX's first three rocket launches failed, and Tesla was on the verge of bankruptcy. But Musk did not give up. He put all his remaining funds into one last gamble. The fourth launch succeeded, and from there began Musk's incredible journey.

Over the past 20 years, Elon Musk has completely disrupted established industries with his ideas. In 2015, when SpaceX successfully landed the Falcon 9 rocket vertically after sending it to space, NASA and the entire world were stunned. This single achievement reduced the cost of space travel by ten times. The automobile industry, which once saw electric cars as toys, was left behind as Tesla crossed a $1 trillion valuation and became the world's most valuable car company.

SpaceX IPO Changes Everything
Musk further changed the game by launching thousands of satellites through Starlink, redefining global internet access. Recently, he surprised the world again by integrating his AI company xAI with SpaceX.

Now, Musk has done it once more with the SpaceX IPO. As soon as SpaceX went public on the American stock market, Musk's wealth saw a massive jump. The IPO valued SpaceX at approximately $1.78 trillion. This made it one of the most valuable companies on Wall Street.

Musk owns about 42% of SpaceX and holds over 82% voting rights. With this historic IPO, his personal wealth has crossed $1.1 trillion, officially making him the world's first trillionaire.

Wealth Bigger Than 175 Countries
Elon Musk's personal fortune is now larger than the total GDP of around 175 countries in the world. Pakistan's entire GDP is around $400 billion, while Musk's wealth is nearly three times that. Many developed European countries like Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Portugal, and Greece also have a lower GDP than Musk's net worth.

Musk's wealth has now reached nearly one-fourth of India's total GDP. According to Forbes, Musk is now nearly three times richer than the world's second richest person, Larry Page. He has also surpassed the combined wealth of Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Jeff Bezos.

From facing near bankruptcy in 2008 to becoming the world's first trillionaire in 2026, Elon Musk's journey continues to inspire and amaze the world.
