England Suffer Major Blow Before Second Test as Ollie Robinson Ruled Out
Robinson made a strong comeback to Test cricket after more than two years during the first Test at Lord’s, where he took 7 wickets and was named Player of the Match. His performance played a key role in England’s 115-run victory.
However, the 32-year-old has been sidelined for the second Test due to injury. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Robinson will remain with the squad and continue his rehabilitation. The team management hopes he will be fit for the third Test starting June 25 at Trent Bridge.
England’s problems don’t end here. Captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson are also unavailable. This has created a major selection headache for the team.
With Robinson out, the chances of star pacer Jofra Archer making a comeback have increased. Archer has joined the squad after completing his IPL 2026 commitments and has already trained with the team at The Oval.
The second Test between England and New Zealand will begin on June 17 at The Oval in London. England will look to strengthen their lead in the series despite the injury concerns.
