A horrific double murder shook Hewati Dihwa village in the Pawai police station area of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Around 1:30 AM, miscreants brutally murdered 70-year-old Jagdamba Prasad Yadav by slitting his throat with an axe while he was sleeping near a tubewell. Minutes later, the attackers reached his house, located about 400 meters away, and hacked his 25-year-old grandson, Shrivanshu Yadav alias Ankit, to death as he slept on the veranda. The incident came to light when Ankit's grandmother, Phoolkumari, woke up to some noise and found him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead. Upon returning, the family found the grandfather's blood-soaked body at the tubewell. The incident caused widespread panic in the village. SP Rural Chirag Jain, CO Phoolpur Kiran Pal Singh, a forensic team, and a dog squad quickly reached the spot. The police recovered the murder weapon, an axe, from a sugarcane field about 100 meters away from the house. Ankit's brother, Shiv Kumar Yadav, alleged that an ongoing land dispute with neighbors led to the killings. He mentioned that Ankit had been preparing for competitive exams in Delhi and had returned home just three months ago. SSP Dr. Anil Kumar stated that a case has been registered based on the family's complaint, and multiple teams have been formed to arrest the accused while thoroughly investigating the land dispute angle.
