The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken strict action against two food processing companies for violating quality and safety standards under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Key Highlights:
- Motichoor Ladoo Violations: Karnataka-based Dharwad Mishra Pedha and Food Processing Industry faced penalties after lab tests showed Motichoor ladoos contained 267.05 mg/kg of the artificial color Tartrazine, significantly exceeding the permissible limit of 100 mg/kg.
- Substandard Iodized Salt: Gujarat-based Shree Chemfood Pvt. Ltd. was penalized for supplying iodized salt that failed quality standards, exhibiting inadequate iodine levels, improper sodium chloride content, insoluble matter, and misleading packaging labels.
- Consumer Advisory: The findings emphasize the importance for consumers to carefully check package labels, FSSAI license numbers, and manufacturing details when purchasing packaged food items.
