ICAR Develops New Heat-Tolerant Wheat Variety DBW 425

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has introduced a new advanced wheat variety, DBW 425, developed by the Karnal-based Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR).

- DBW 425 Variety: Specifically tailored for late-sown irrigated farming in the central region, this climate-resilient variety boasts heat and drought tolerance. It yields an average of 47.9 quintals per hectare with a 12.3% protein content.
- Other Notable Varieties: Mention of other low-water or efficient varieties such as DBW 359, CG 1040, CG 1036, and the upcoming HI 1683.
- HD 3388 Features: Timely-sown variety suitable for regions like eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam, yielding up to 52.0 quintals per hectare in 125 days with high heat-stress tolerance.
