No Shortage of Urea for Kharif Season: Government Assures Ample Stock and Boosted Domestic Production

- Surplus Stock: Total urea availability stands at 163.78 lakh metric tonnes against an estimated demand of 109.40 lakh metric tonnes, leaving a surplus of 54.38 lakh metric tonnes (roughly 47.9% above requirement).
- Increased Production Capacity: Domestic urea production capacity has grown from 207.54 lakh metric tonnes per annum in 2014-15 to 269.42 lakh metric tonnes for 2026-27, driven by six new plants under the New Investment Policy.
