India got off to a winning start in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. In the first match played in Dharamshala on Saturday, India defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets.

The match was reduced to 25 overs per side due to rain. Afghanistan posted 194 runs, thanks to a brilliant century by Rahmanullah Gurbaz. In reply, India chased down the target comfortably with 13 balls to spare.

Captain Shubman Gill was the star of the match, scoring an unbeaten 84 off just 66 balls, including 11 fours and 2 sixes. KL Rahul provided excellent support with an unbeaten 39 off 19 balls.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Their innings got off to a shaky start as they lost three wickets for just 26 runs in the powerplay. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a sensational knock, scoring 102 runs off just 51 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes.

Gurbaz and Hashmatullah Shahidi added 116 runs for the fourth wicket. Gurbaz was eventually dismissed by Nitish Kumar Reddy. Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar took three wickets each for India.

India started their chase strongly. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 46 runs for the first wicket before Rohit was run out for 16. Ishan Kishan then joined Gill and the duo added 70 runs. Ishan scored 34 before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.

Shreyas Iyer could only manage 12 runs. From there, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul took complete control and finished the match without any further trouble.

### Next Match
The second ODI of the series will be played on 17 June in Lucknow.

This victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Shubman Gill’s captaincy and batting were highly praised by fans and experts alike.
