Students Create Chaos at Patliputra Station Over Lack of Trains for Exam
Frustrated students blocked tracks, pelted stones, and damaged railway property. The situation soon turned violent. Police had to use tear gas shells and fire in the air to control the mob. Railway IG Jitendra Rana and five other policemen were injured in the clashes.
According to reports, thousands of candidates had gathered at the station since late night to board special trains for their exam centres. However, due to inadequate arrangements, chaos broke out. Some miscreants took advantage of the situation and indulged in stone pelting and vandalism.
Railway authorities and senior police officials reached the spot immediately. The protest was eventually brought under control. Police have registered FIRs against around 500 unidentified people and arrested half a dozen students. CCTV footage is being examined to identify more culprits.
The situation at Patliputra station has now been brought under control with heavy deployment of police force. The incident has once again highlighted the lack of proper arrangements for large-scale competitive examinations in the state.
