The Indian stock market witnessed significant volatility over the past five trading sessions, ending the week in the red as both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed lower. Out of the top-10 most valuable companies on the Sensex, five suffered heavy erosions in market capitalization, led by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries (RIL) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which together wiped out over Rs 66,000 crore in investor wealth. TCS saw its market cap shrink to Rs 8.53 lakh crore, losing Rs 34,263 crore, while RIL's valuation dropped to Rs 17.70 lakh crore with a loss of Rs 31,869 crore.

Major banking heavyweights including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and the State Bank of India (SBI) also recorded notable declines in their market valuations. Conversely, five other firms bucked the downward trend to post robust gains. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) led the winners by adding Rs 26,438.49 crore to reach a market cap of Rs 5.23 lakh crore, followed by strong surges in Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Hindustan Unilever (HUL). Despite the weekly slump, Reliance Industries retained its position as India's most valuable company by market capitalization.
