Nihangs Take Over Gurdwara in Himachal

More than 150 Nihangs have occupied the historic Paonta Sahib Gurdwara in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The protest is against the arrest of four Nihangs in Uttarakhand following a clash with locals in Chamoli’s Karnaprayag.

The Nihangs have demanded the immediate release of their companions. After talks with the administration, they have postponed their protest march to Uttarakhand for two days.

Earlier, a group of Nihangs had also taken over Nagarasu Gurdwara. The situation remains tense as the Nihangs have warned of intensifying their protest if their demands are not met.
