Pig Worm Was Living in Man’s Brain

Doctors in Spain were shocked to find that what they thought was brain cancer in a 60-year-old man was actually a pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) larva. The condition, known as neurocysticercosis, was successfully treated with anti-parasitic medicines.

The man had been suffering from severe headaches and blurred vision. High-resolution MRI revealed the parasite instead of a tumour. The case has been published in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.
