Marking a significant milestone in agricultural exports, India has successfully dispatched its first commercial consignment of 12.5 tons of Uttar Pradesh's famous Dasheri and Langra mangoes to Dubai via a sea route.

Key Highlights:
- Cost-Effective Sea Route: Traditionally dependent on expensive air freight, this maiden shipment used a 40-foot refrigerated container by sea, significantly lowering logistics costs and fetching farmers an extra 15 to 20 rupees per kilo.
- Advanced Technology: Processed at an Amroha packhouse using ICAR-CISH's METWASH technology to extend shelf life, the consignment arrived at Dubai's Al Awir Fruit and Vegetable Market after a 25-day journey, with roughly 90% of the fruit remaining in market-ready condition.
- Retail Partnership: The shipment was supplied to the UAE's major retail conglomerate, Lulu Group, opening up new international market prospects for Indian horticulture.
