In a major push towards green mobility, the Delhi government has approved a new Electric Vehicle Policy effective from July 1, 2026, till March 31, 2030.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the government will spend ₹15,000 crore over the next four years. Key highlights include 100% road tax and registration exemption for pure electric vehicles, purchase incentives for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and N1 category trucks, and scrapping incentives for old vehicles.

From January 2027, only electric three-wheelers and N1 trucks will be registered. From April 2028, only electric two-wheelers will be allowed registration. Schools must convert 30% of their bus fleet to electric by 2030.

The policy aims to install 32,000 charging points and significantly reduce vehicle-related pollution in the capital.
