French carmaker Citroen has launched the facelifted version of its popular and affordable electric car, the Citroen e-C3X, in the Indian market. The biggest highlight is that this electric car is now available with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. Customers can pay only for the chassis and rent the battery, significantly reducing the initial purchase cost.

The standard ex-showroom price of the new Citroen e-C3X starts at Rs 10.25 lakh. With the BaaS model, the starting price drops to Rs 6.89 lakh, along with a battery rental charge of Rs 2.26 per kilometre in EMI.

Bookings for the car have begun across the country. It is available in six monotone colours — Polar White, Steel Grey, Cosmo Blue, Pearl Nera Black, Garnet Red, and Deep Forest Green.

Under the BaaS subscription model, customers do not have to pay the full battery cost upfront. Instead, they pay a monthly EMI for the battery. The company has tied up with major banks to offer a dual-loan finance model, which further lowers the initial outlay.

The e-C3X is built on the Smart Car platform. It features an SUV-inspired design with LED headlights, split LED DRLs, front fog lamps, and a bold front grille. It comes with 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 170 mm ground clearance, and a tight turning radius of 4.98 metres.

Inside, the cabin offers a 2,450 mm wheelbase and the segment’s best shoulder room. It also provides a 315-litre boot space, making it practical for daily use and weekend trips. The seats are tuned for Indian road conditions with improved suspension. The electric powertrain ensures almost zero noise and vibration.

For safety, the e-C3X comes with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, speed-sensitive auto door lock, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and high-speed alert system. It also features a dashcam-based predictive safety system with lane departure warning, front vehicle distance alert, and pedestrian warning.

The car is powered by a 29.2 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 56 bhp and 143 Nm torque. Citroen claims a driving range of 320 km on a single charge. With DC fast charging, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes.

The company claims the maintenance cost of the e-C3X is the lowest in the segment at just 19 paise per kilometre.
