Malda Mangoes Create a Sensation in Foreign Markets

📅 July 2, 2026 🏷️ Economy
Mangoes from West Bengal’s Malda district are gaining popularity in international markets. In the last one week, around 10 tonnes of premium quality mangoes, mainly Amrapali variety, were exported to West Asia and Italy.

Experts from ICAR-CISH are guiding farmers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). Exports of Vrindavani, Fazli and Ashwina varieties are also planned in the coming days.

This has not only boosted farmers’ income but also improved prices in the domestic market. Himsagar and Langda varieties could not be exported this season due to quality issues caused by adverse weather.
