WhatsApp Subscription Launched in India
The price of this new plan has been set at Rs 79 per month in India. However, users are getting the first month as a free trial. This means you can try it first and then decide whether it is necessary for you or not.
To understand WhatsApp Plus, it is important to know that it does not bring major functional changes. The basic features like calling, status, messaging, and end-to-end encryption will remain the same and free for all users. This subscription is only for those who want to use WhatsApp in a slightly different and more personalised way.
Under this plan, users get the option to customise the app’s appearance. It includes around 18 new colour themes with different styles and colour combinations. Users can also change the app icon, for which 14 new designs have been provided.
Apart from the look, some small but useful features have also been added. Users get exclusive ringtones that are not available to regular users. New sticker packs are also provided. Another change is that users can now pin up to 20 chats in their chat list, which was previously limited.
The subscription process is simple. Go to WhatsApp settings, find the Subscriptions section, and select WhatsApp Plus. Payment is processed through Google Play Store. After activation, a notification is also received.
However, this feature has not yet reached all users. If you do not see the WhatsApp Plus option in Subscriptions, it means the rollout has not happened for your account yet. In that case, you may have to wait a few days.
Now the question is whether one should subscribe to WhatsApp Plus or not. The answer completely depends on the user. If you use WhatsApp only for messaging and are satisfied with its current look and features, then this plan is not necessary for you.
